Fit notes: new rules in place from Friday 1 July 2022
From Friday 1 July, a wider range of healthcare professionals will be able to certify fit notes. The government has made changes to reduce pressure on doctors (particularly GP's) and make the process more flexible and efficient.

Trade union membership statistics for 2021 published
The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy has published the 2021 national statistics on trade union membership using the Labour Force Survey to provide an estimate of the levels and density of trade union membership for all UK workers. The report includes estimates presented by gender, sector, age, industry, region, and occupation, and covers union presence and collective bargaining.
New help to get the over 50’s back to work
The Department for Work and Pensions has said that it will invest £22 million to help job-seekers over the age of 50 get back into work. This group will get individual support at Jobcentres to help them obtain work, and those who are thinking about retiring, will be offered “mid-life MOTs” to help them “take stock of their skills and finances”.
