Irwin Mitchell Supporting Their Charity Of The Year, Maggie’s Yorkshire

A team of experts from a law firm in Leeds are taking on a range of challenges to support and raise money for a Yorkshire-based charity impacted by the COVID-19 lockdown.

Maggie’s Yorkshire, which is the 2020 Charity Of The Year appointed by the Leeds office of Irwin Mitchell, is among a number of organisations affected by the ongoing pandemic.  Recent restrictions have led to the team experiencing great difficulty in continuing to provide their vital service to cancer patients and their carers.

In addition, the charity is under pressure to increase funding after many fund-raising efforts were put on hold after people were told to stay at home. 

On hearing of the charity’s struggles, Irwin Mitchell’s Charities Foundation Leeds Committee launched their ‘5Q 5K Nomination Challenge.’  A number of Irwin Mitchell employees have signed up to the event, which asks them to either send five inspirational and uplifting quotes to five people or run, walk or cycle five kilometres.  This is followed by a £5 donation to Maggie’s Yorkshire and five more participants nominated via Twitter.

The money raised will contribute towards funding the Maggie’s Yorkshire staff who have devoted their time to manning a dedicated cancer helpline at Leeds Teaching Hospitals to help deliver virtual support and alleviate the current pressure on NHS staff and resources.
