Hearing To Be Held At Norwich Coroners Court On December 10th

The family of a much loved grandmother, who passed away last year shortly after suffering a fall in hospital, have revealed their hopes that an upcoming inquest will provide vital answers regarding the chain of events which led to her death.

Sheila Coley died aged 79 at West Suffolk Hospital on July 8th 2017, only a couple of weeks after breaking her hip in a fall at the hospital. 

Sheila was admitted with confusion on the night of 20th June 2017 but around five to six hours later she had fallen and broken her hip. While an x-ray revealed a fracture which was repaired during surgery, Sheila’s health deteriorated and she sadly passed away.

An inquest examining the grandmother-of-two’s death is now set to be held at Norwich Coroners Court on Monday 10 December. Sheila’s family have revealed their hopes that the hearing will highlight vital information regarding the care she received.

“Sheila’s family remain understandably devastated by their loss and continue to have a number of questions regarding the care that Sheila received and the events leading up to her fall.

Sheila’s daughter Lucy added: “Sheila was a much-loved wife, mother and grandmother and the entire family misses her.

“It has been particularly hard coming to terms with her death, with questions still remaining regarding the care she received towards the end of her life. I cannot comprehend how my mother went into hospital with something treatable, yet never came out. 

“We are hopeful that this inquest will provide us with answers.”

The inquest is taking place on Monday 10 December at Norwich Coroners Court.
