Authorities Continue Investigation Into Illness Problems
Illness experts at Irwin Mitchell who are now representing more than 30 people affected by the Legionnaires’ outbreak in Edinburgh in the past month have called on authorities to provide answers, following news the outbreak has been declared over.
Public health agencies including NHS Lothian have stated the outbreak is officially over, although they are expected to continue to monitor the issue.
Investigations into what caused the outbreak, which is thought to have affected more than 100 hundred people, are also ongoing.
Lawyers at Irwin Mitchell’s Glasgow office are now acting for 31 people who suffered serious health problems as a result of the outbreak and are demanded for more information to be released about how the outbreak emerged.
David Bell, a solicitor in the personal injury team at the national law firm, said: "News that the outbreak has been declared over is very welcome.
“However, there remains a huge amount of work to be done to not only fully investigate and identify a cause but also to ensure that those affected are given all of the answers that they deserve.
“The consequences of the outbreak continue to be felt by so many people and it is vital that the health and safety authorities provide full and proper timescales in terms of when the outcome of investigations will be known, as well as updates on how such inquiries have progressed so far.
“Throughout this terrible ordeal we have heard from clients how they feel incredibly worried about the lack of information which has been released. It is vital that this is addressed as soon as possible.”
