A 50-year-old West Midlands man has recovered compensation of £200,000 in respect of serious injuries he sustained in a
motorbike accident.
Our client was riding as a pillion passenger on a bike being ridden by a friend. As they were proceeding along a busy A-road, an oncoming car attempted to turn right across their path when it was not safe to. A collision occurred and the rider was sadly killed, with the pillion passenger sustaining serious orthopaedic and psychiatric injury.
Stephen Nye, Partner at our Birmingham office represented the pillion rider and commented: "This was a very serious incident involving one fatality and serious injury to another. The incident could so easily have been avoided. It is a stark reminder that car drivers do need to take extra care and carry out extra checks for bikes before making such manoeuvres.
"My client sustained serious injuries, though due to the rehabilitation services we were able to provide in the course of his claim, he has made a reasonable recovery. he does have ongoing problems, for which he has received compensation. He hopes to be returning to work in the near future."
