I’m Danny Revitt and I’m the joint head of our National Real Estate Disputes team.
I’m extremely proud of the strong and long-lasting relationships I’ve built with my clients over the 32 years I’ve been at Irwin Mitchell. It’s as much a friendship as a professional relationship, and it’s something I really value when I come to work every day.
My path to progression
I joined the commercial litigation team when I was one year qualified. I soon began to focus particularly on property litigation and real estate disputes work, which I’ve dealt with exclusively since about 2005. I progressed to a partner, to leading the local team, and now I jointly lead the national team with Tim Rayner. I’m very pleased with my career development here. Progression is always encouraged, and I’ve been supported every step of the way.
My role is to manage the real estate disputes team in both the commercial and residential spheres. We act for a broad range of mainly commercial clients, particularly investors, developers and corporate occupiers, but also for some high-net-worth individuals with property interests. My team helps our clients with any issues that arise before, during and after property transactions, ensuring that they’re making the most from their property portfolios and supporting them to manage risk.
A strong relationship built on trust
Having a trusted relationship with clients is vital in my role. They want someone they can relate to and get in touch with easily.
I enjoy leading by example. My team and I build strong relationships with our clients by giving them a quality responsive service and prioritising their needs.
For our clients, knowing we’ve got the legal expertise to reach a solution for them is essential. But what sets us apart is our caring approach and I think this makes us unique. We have a diverse team so we can serve their wide variety of needs effectively.
To aid their career development, the junior members of our team learn on the job and build their knowledge by working alongside our senior members. It’s great that we can provide this supervision to train the next generation of lawyers.
A beneficial transition
The business has really grown over the 30+ years I’ve been here. We’ve developed nationally by opening more offices to serve our clients.
The most recent change is the shift to home working since the pandemic. This has fundamentally changed how we work with clients and one another. We’re able to be more flexible, which allows us to meet our clients’ needs, while giving our colleagues a positive work-life balance to boost productivity.
Dealing with our clients electronically has been revolutionary. We can deal with requests more quickly, whether through email or video call. This wasn’t an option when I first started. We’ve always encouraged our team to take advantage of technological advances because it benefits our clients. With these new ways of working, we can respond quickly, progress their cases and reach a solution more promptly.
A very special bond
In 2005 my son was born three months prematurely. He spent the first three months of his life in an incubator. I had to balance the challenges of visiting him in hospital with working on my busy case load.
It was a tough time for me and my family, but Irwin Mitchell was extremely supportive. They were really understanding when I had to visit the hospital at short notice and trusted me to work flexibly to deliver an excellent service for my clients.
My son has mild cerebral palsy. He’s also on the autistic spectrum and has an IV shunt for hydrocephalus. He’s been a real fighter and I’ve worked hard to give him all the opportunities any child would want to have. We have a very special bond.
Outside work, I really enjoy music and football, passions which my son has inherited. We’re always going to concerts and football matches together, and it’s a great way to clear my mind after a busy week at work. He’s a keen disability footballer and plays for two local teams. He’s also passionate about running, and always reaches the Parkrun finish line a few minutes before me!
It’s challenging at times because everything we do needs extra time, care and thought, but it’s very rewarding.
Join our team
If you’re looking to join a diverse team which delivers excellent results for its clients, prioritises career progression and trusts you to work flexibly, I’d really recommend Irwin Mitchell. I’ve worked here for over 30 years and that speaks volumes. The hard-working environment, welcoming colleagues and inclusive culture are just a few elements I love about this firm.
