What To Expect When You Make A Medical Negligence Claim
If you or a loved one has suffered due to medical negligence, we understand what you’re going through.
Our priority from day one is you. We’ll do everything we can to get you the compensation you deserve, and make sure you have the right support to make the best recovery possible.
When you start your medical negligence claim with us, our immediate priority will be to investigate your treatment concerns and seek an early admission of fault from the organisation responsible. This will then mean that we can try and get an interim compensation payment.
Interim payments are paid in advance of your final compensation settlement. They can help ease any financial worries you may have, as well as to pay for things you need – such as a wheelchair, physiotherapy, or adaptations to your home.
Medical negligence claims can take a few years to settle. This is because it can take some time to understand the impact your injuries will have on your life. It’s important we wait until we can see the full extent of your injuries, as settling your claim sooner could mean getting less compensation than you need.
Our experienced solicitors will be here with you every step of the way, making sure you get the compensation and care that you deserve.

Leo’s Story
Baby Leo was born with lipomyelomeningocele – one of the most severe types of spina bifida. This illness forms fatty lumps on the spinal cord, which can cause weakness and numbness in the legs. It can also cause bladder and bowel problems.
Faye, Leo’s mum, attended her routine scans and checks while she was pregnant. They told her everything was normal, so the diagnosis when Leo was born was a major shock.
Leo’s parents asked our medical negligence team to investigate whether spina bifida could have been detected sooner. We negotiated a compensation settlement from the Burton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This helped to pay for support and treatment for Leo.
"We have shown him videos of Paralympians to prove that there are so many different people in the world with many different disabilities, and the main thing in life is not to let it hold you back from your dreams and what you want to achieve. We are devoted to him and are determined to make sure he has the best life possible.” - Faye, Leo's mum
“Leo hasn’t had the easiest of starts to life, and he’s had to come to terms with what his spina bifida means for his future. We hope that this settlement will make life a little easier for Leo and his family by helping to fund his care, therapy and equipment needs.” - Guy Forster, Partner
