Biography
I specialize in all aspects of financial Court of Protection work and Personal Injury Trusts. I predominantly work with individuals that have suffered catastrophic injuries as a result of medical negligence or personal injury and have been awarded substantial compensation to meet their future needs. My focus lies on supporting such individuals through their litigation claim, and then managing their financial affairs under a Deputyship Order or within a Personal Injury Trust, post litigation.
Additionally, I advise lay Deputies, Attorneys and Trustees in relation to Court of Protection applications, and have particular experience in Statutory Will, gift and property related applications.
My previous experience focused on health and welfare Court of Protection work, as well as Human Rights and Mental Health law. This has equipped me with great insight regarding challenging state bodies in relation to people’s welfare rights, and I regularly draw on that experience when cross-jurisdictional issues come up in my practice.
I also speak a number of languages, including Greek, Albanian, German, Spanish and (basic) Portuguese, which help me communicate with a variety of clients.
What do you like about working at Irwin Mitchell?
The people! Everyone is friendly and genuinely care about the work they do.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?
Seeing the direct effects that your work can have on vulnerable people's lives. Sometimes the positive change may be very small, and other times it may be huge; but seeing someone's life improve never fails to make me feel at the very least grateful for being able to practice in this area of law.
What inspired you to get into law?
I wanted to be involved in something that would mentally stimulate me whilst also benefiting the society, and law felt like my calling. I find the science of law just as fascinating, as its practice.
What do you do away from the office?
I very much enjoy travelling, and discovering new cultures and languages. When at home, I find peace by cooking mediterranean food, reading poetry or going to the theatre.
