This campaign celebrates them and their inspiring stories. We’re proud to have played a part by helping them access the support, rehabilitation, and adaptive equipment they need.

Samantha's Story - I am able to be with my family

Samantha from Inverness was travelling in her fiancé's van when he suddenly lost control of the vehicle. Her seat belt broke as the van flipped over and she suffered brain and spinal injuries as she was flung out of the passenger window. 

We're now helping Samantha claim compensation so she can maintain her active, independent lifestyle. We've already got her interim payments that have paid for an adapted car so she can get out into the world and spend quality time with her family.

Jason's Story - I am able to enjoy every day 

Jason, 50, was cycling on holiday in Portugal when he was hit by a car. He suffered serious spinal injuries and the doctors told him that he would never walk again. 

But now Jason can look forward to walking his daughters down the aisle despite the doctors’ predictions. Our expert solicitors have secured a settlement from his serious injury claim that’s paid for a high-tech exoskeleton, which lets him walk independently again. He’s even completed the Paris Half Marathon!

Ed's Story – I am able to be independent

Ed was a student at the University of Leeds when he was hit by a speeding taxi and suffered a serious brain injury. He lay in a coma for months while doctors repeatedly told his family that he wouldn’t survive.

After half a year, Ed woke up from his coma and his incredible recovery began. Since then, he has gone back to university, completed a degree, and even competed in the Superhero Series Triathlon.

Kit’s Story – I am able to be happy

Hospital staff failed to notice that Kit was in distress while being born, and he developed cerebral palsy. His parents contacted our birth injury lawyers, and we were able to secure a compensation settlement to cover his care needs.

Kit is football mad and now plays with Adversity United, an under-12’s disability football club in Harrogate. His family are also very proud that Kit can attend a mainstream school.

Andrea’s Story – I am able to be confident

Andrea went to hospital with flu-like symptoms and was diagnosed with sepsis, a serious condition that can happen when you get an infection. She didn’t get treatment quickly enough, however, and complications meant that she needed to have both legs amputated.

Family has been a big motivation for Andrea, who is determined to continue being an active part of her granddaughter’s life. She’s also started a support group for other amputees and has fulfilled a long-term ambition by joining an art group.

Matthew’s Story – I am able to play

Mistakes made when Matthew was born mean that Matthew lives with quadriplegic cerebral palsy and learning difficulties.

Our medical negligence solicitors are helping Matthew and his family provide for Matthew’s long-term needs. This support has helped Matthew focus on his two main passions – music and football.

Ainsley’s Story – I am able to take part

Ainsley suffered a spinal injury in a road traffic accident at the age of 21. The incident meant that he would need a wheelchair for the rest of his life.

Our solicitors helped Ainsley access the rehabilitation and therapy he needed to recover. Sport also played a big part in his recovery, as he took part in the Inter Spinal Unit Games.

He has since developed a love of adaptive rowing, and he has quickly got involved in competitive events with other athletes.
