Since our last edition of Military in Focus, we’ve opened two new offices in Cardiff and Liverpool to help us support more clients in these regions. With these new additions, we now have 17 office locations across the UK.
Whilst we maintain a Flexible by Choice approach to hybrid working, we want to make sure our clients’ experience is the best it can be. By creating more office locations, we can provide more flexible options for clients to meet our specialist teams. This includes our Military Injury team.
Liverpool has a rich naval history, so we wanted to best placed to support any veterans in the city. This summer, the head of our Armed Forces Compensation team, Amanda Marsh, was invited on-board the HMS Queen Elizabeth when it docked, through our support of the Armed Forces Covenant.
Cardiff’s also a strategic location for us. One of our Military Injury solicitors, Charlotte Werner, is based in our Cardiff office and is proud of her strong military connections. She’s the events and PR secretary for the Cardiff Military Wives Choir and a mentor for SSAFA – The Armed Forces Charity. Charlotte is looking forward to her new base and hopes to support more service personnel in Wales.
Charlotte said:
“Wales has a large and thriving military community due to the Welsh regiments, and the regiments who train in Wales. There’s also a lot of service personnel and veterans who settle here.
“It’s a great time to be a veteran in Wales. There’s a strong Veterans NHS Wales, the newly appointed Veteran Commissioner for Wales, and a host of public and charitable organisations with veterans at their heart.
“We’ve had a fantastic welcome to Wales so far. We look forward to continuing to support our Welsh clients and understand the specific benefits and opportunities facing them in Wales. We’re committed to developing our relationships in Cardiff and beyond.”
Our new Cardiff office also enables us to work more closely with charities such as YourNorth, setup by partners Kelly and Jamie Farr who served in the RAF as Engineers. The charity provides training courses to businesses on mental wellbeing and communication.
Gruffydd Owen, a solicitor in our team who specialises in hearing loss and bullying claims, works closely with YourNorth. He recently attended the Caerphilly Veterans hub. Earlier this year, we also supported their Armed Forces Day event and will be helping more veterans attend their Remembrance Day event.
Gruffydd said:
“We’ve developed an excellent partnership with YourNorth, an organisation which provides a variety of support to Veterans in South Wales. It’s helped us see the important work that’s taking place in the community, and we’ve been delighted to support this”
