Members of the firm’s Military Injury Claims Team attended a charity ball earlier this year, held on Friday 4 July in Doncaster to help raise funds for the military charity, Pilgrim Bandits.
IM donated an iPad for a raffle which was held during the evening, and also paid for tickets to allow a group of injured Soldiers to attend the very worthwhile event.
Inspirational hero, Ben Parkinson also attended and was presented with a beautiful portrait in honour of him being awarded an MBE. Pilgrim Bandits was established by a small group of Special Forces Veterans in 2007, with the aim of helping and inspiring wounded Soldiers to live life to the full. The charity’s mantra, ‘Always a Little Further’ is core to the group’s attitude, whether working with amputee men and women from the Services directly, or by utilising their experiences to inspire and encourage young people and children.
Ben Parkinson (one of the most severely injured Soldiers) is a Patron and Ambassador for the charity and IM has had close links with Ben for a number of years. Andrew Buckham, Associate Solicitor said, “This is a very worthwhile charity and we have always been big supporters of Ben, who
remains such an inspiration to everyone.”
The Military Injury Claims Team helped support Ben and his family in their campaign to improve the levels of compensation paid to injured Service Personnel under the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme. The campaign resulted in significant improvements to the awards and benefits paid to Service Personnel under the MoD scheme.
