Each year, volunteers from our offices across the UK come together to raise awareness and vital funds for veterans and their families by taking part in the Walking Home For Christmas challenge.
The annual event is run by Walking With The Wounded, and aims to help veterans who are at risk. It’s a chance to show the Christmas spirit and support people who are:
- Socially isolated
- Unemployed
- Struggling with mental health issues.
This year, due to COVID-19 restrictions, we decided to run the challenge slightly differently by setting a target to walk a total of 457km throughout December. This figure represents the number of UK lives lost during the Afghanistan conflict.
Colleagues from our Southampton, Cambridge, Manchester and Sheffield offices wrapped up warm, and throughout the month we walked 1153.38 kilometres, more than double our original target. Together we raised over £1,000 which will be donated directly to the Walking With The Wounded charity.
