We are pleased to announce our private client teams were named as the best in their sector at the Legal Business Awards 2016 held in November last year.
The awards are the leading celebration for the UK's thriving law community and are hosted by Legal Week in association with The City of London Law Society.
We fought off elite competition from the UK's legal community to win an award which recognises work across areas of law such as family, contentious probate, personal tax and will, trusts and estates.
Our submission was based on a number of our high profile cases, including our success at the Supreme Court in 2015, when partner and head of our family law team in Manchester, Ros Bever, helped secure victory for two ex-wives, making legal history in the process.
The landmark case saw a unanimous ruling to set aside original financial settlements because both husbands' had been dishonest about their assets in their divorce proceedings.
The cases gained over 200 media hits including coverage in all of the national newspapers and from the major broadcaster.
The submission also featured Paula Myers successful Court battle on behalf of a woman fighting to keep a share of her deceased partner’s property and how the result showed the need for co-habitation laws to be brought into the 21st century.
