Law Firm’s Apprenticeship Scheme Delivers Its Largest Ever New Apprentice Intake
Irwin Mitchell has continued to develop its apprenticeship scheme, with 30 new recruits joining in 2023, representing the firm’s largest ever intake.
Starting on 11 September, the 30 new apprentices will be engaged in roles in both legal and non-legal areas, providing them with a broad range of experiences as they build their careers with the firm.
The new apprentices form a key part of Irwin Mitchell’s early careers strategy and passed a rigorous selection process before starting work on their individual programmes. The two to six year courses will see the apprentices receive their qualifications, while also establishing a framework for their future career, linked to areas identified as important for the firm’s long-term objectives.
The new apprentices follow in the wake of the 54 trainees and 23 newly qualified solicitors who commenced work with Irwin Mitchell last month and the firm achieving its highest ever ranking in the Rate My Apprenticeship Best 100 Apprenticeship Employers awards recently.
The new recruits will be based across Irwin Mitchell’s regional offices, with the apprenticeship courses comprised of 14 paralegal, 9 solicitor, 4 business administration, 2 finance and 1 tax recruit.
Lorcan Seery, apprentice manager at Irwin Mitchell, said: “We’re delighted to be able to welcome our highest ever number of apprentices to the business. Their arrival forms part of a commitment over the last few years to expand our apprenticeship proposition, in conjunction our early years careers strategy for the business.
“Since 2021 we have seen a consistent increase in our apprentice numbers and this is a trend we’re focused on improving. As we refine our training, we’re ensuring that our colleagues of the future have the skills they need to build a successful career and that the firm has strength and experience in areas of the business vital for our future growth and success.
“Our new apprentices are part of the future of Irwin Mitchell and we very much look forward to working with them and their line managers and would like to take this opportunity to wish them every success with their studies and their future career with us.”
Last month, Irwin Mitchell also announced an 87% retention rate for its newly qualified solicitors and was recognised in July as one of the best places for women to work in the UK by the Great Place To Work initiative.
