Parents Instruct Serious Injury Lawyers To Help Daughter Access Rehabilitation Following Collision
The father of a young woman seriously injured when she was knocked down in Bow has spoken out on how his daughter is progressing with her recovery.
The woman, who wishes to be known as Manon C, 31, was knocked unconscious when she was hit by a driver whilst making her way across a pedestrian crossing controlled by lights in Bow Road, Bow, East London.
Paramedics and police attended the scene. It’s understood that there was no CCTV footage capturing the collision and the police have since closed the investigation with no further action.
Manon was taken to the Royal London Hospital. She was found to have a catalogue of life-changing injuries including a bleed on the brain.
She also suffers from amnesia and can’t recall much of what happened.
Following the collision, Manon’s parents instructed expert serious injury lawyers at Irwin Mitchell to help their daughter access the specialist rehabilitation she requires.
They’re now joining with their legal team in appealing for witnesses, or anyone with dash or helmet cam footage of the incident or its aftermath, to come forward to help ensure Manon receives the best treatment package possible.
The collision, involving a grey Vauxhall Zafira DY61 YPU, happened at around 9.15pm on Friday, 14 October, last year.
Expert Opinion
“The last eight months have been incredibly tough for Manon and the rest of the family as they attempt to come to terms with what happened and the severity of her injuries.
“While Manon has made remarkable progress with her recovery, she still faces many challenges. She continues to struggle with the impact her injuries have on her, both physically and psychologically. What’s particularly distressing for her is her inability to recall what happened and the limited evidence taken from the scene.
“Manon’s case vividly highlights how people continue to suffer with the effects of a brain injury long after the physical wounds have healed. She’s likely to require ongoing rehabilitation and we’re determined to support her.
“We are therefore appealing to anyone who may have information on the collision. Any detail could be key in helping us secure the ongoing specialist treatment Manon needs to overcome her injuries and move forward with her life as best she can.” Laura Middleton-Guerard, Serious Injury lawyer
Following her discharge from hospital, Manon was admitted as an inpatient to a neuro-rehabilitation clinic for four weeks.
Manon’s dad Gilles, who lives in France, said: “To hear that Manon had been involved in an accident was absolutely devastating. We jumped on the first train we could to get to London and look after her.
“She’s always been such an independent young woman and we knew that she would find it difficult to have to be cared for, but we’re her parents and wanted to be here to help with anything she needed. It still makes me so angry to think of what my daughter has been through, but I try not waste my energy on those thoughts and want to focus on getting Manon better.
“In the months since the incident, she’s done so well. Manon makes us so proud with how she’s progressing with her recovery and she’s been working hard to overcome her injuries. All we want now is to make sure that Manon can keep getting the care she needs and we’d be so grateful if anyone who knows anything about what happened that day could come forward. It would mean so much to us.”
