Award-Winning TV Show Returns With Another 20 Episodes
The Media & Entertainment team at leading law firm Irwin Mitchell has advised Grandpa Productions Limited on the second series of the hit children’s’ show, The World According to Grandpa.
The second series of the award-winning show will start on 15th October on Milkshake! Channel 5.
Created and written by Chris Heath, the show features 2D animation with each episode prompted by a question posed by one of the four grandchildren to grandpa played in the Milkshake! Channel 5 programme by esteemed actor Don Warrington. Sally Lindsay, provides the voice of the other lead character, Halifax the rabbit.
S4C also re-commissioned a second series of Byd Tad-cu, the Welsh language version of the show starring Danny Grehan and made in co-production with partners Boom Cymru.
The first series of The World According To Grandpa won the Broadcast award for best pre-school programme earlier this year, as well as the Voice of the Listeners and Viewers Award for best children’s programme. It has just been nominated for best Live Action Kids’ programme for the Content Innovation Awards 2022 as well as a nomination for the RTS North West award for best pre-school kids’ programme.
The show, which is made with the support of the BFI’s Young Audience Content Fund, continues Manchester’s rich heritage for children’s television production.
As the appointed production lawyers, Irwin Mitchell advised on all production and production finance agreements including the negotiation and drafting of the broadcaster agreements with Channel 5 and S4C; and the production finance agreement with the British Film Institute’s (BFI) Young Audiences Content Fund.
