New Partner Andrea Jones Takes Chair Position
A Leeds-based partner at law firm Irwin Mitchell has been appointed chair of the Yorkshire branch of private client professional organisation STEP.
Having been a committee member of STEP Yorkshire since 2012 and being the branch’s secretary for the last two years, Andrea Jones in the firm’s Leeds Tax, Trusts and Estates team has now been appointed as chair of the STEP Yorkshire branch beginning from 1 June. The appointment will last for three years.
STEP is the global professional association for practitioners who specialise in family inheritance and succession planning. STEP works to improve public understanding of the issues families face in this area and promotes education and high professional standards among its members.
Andrea has also been involved in the Collaborative Professionals Network as the STEP Yorkshire rep since its inception in 2016, also serving as vice chair of the committee. She will step down from this role in order to focus on her new position.
The appointment comes after Andrea was made partner in the latest round of Irwin Mitchell’s partner promotions, having built up a Tax, Trusts and Estates team in Leeds and now overseeing the newly established Manchester team.
Leading national law firm Irwin Mitchell has a longstanding relationship with STEP; in 2019 the national Tax, Trusts and Estates team was awarded Platinum Employer Partner accreditation by the professional association, which takes into account a firm’s quality of training, learning and development.
Expert Opinion
“I’m absolutely delighted to have been appointed as STEP Yorkshire chair after many years of being involved with the organisation, and look forward to seeing what we can do as a committee in the coming years.
“The position also fits in well with Irwin Mitchell’s employer partnership with STEP, and we have many lawyers here in the north involved with STEP through either qualifications or being involved in committees themselves.
“Under the current circumstances it’s more important than ever we make sure we can provide high-quality legal advice while making sure we’re looking after our clients at every step of the legal process. STEP Yorkshire will continue to do this as well as build our presence in the region over the next three years.
“I look forward to taking up the position and getting to work with my fellow committee members and STEP colleagues.” Andrea Jones - Partner
