Charity Providing Support For Adults Living With Motor Disorders And Brain Injuries
National law firm Irwin Mitchell’s real estate division has advised new client Paces, the South Yorkshire specialist centre, charity and school for individuals with cerebral palsy and motor disorders, on the taking of a new 10-year lease to open a new facility with expanded services for adults.
Paces is taking 8,000 sq. ft at the Smithywood Business Park, Sheffield S35 – just two miles from Paces current headquarters and directly off the M1 at junction 35. The new facility will allow Paces Living adult services to grow and support three-times as many adults in the future.
It will mean more places for more individuals, who will be able to easily access the facility from across South Yorkshire and beyond, as well as providing an improved space to offer conductive education sessions that improve the mobility of those who have acquired brain injuries – such as through a Stroke, Multiple Sclerosis or Parkinson’s.
In time Paces will also develop a service for young adults aged between 18-25 to ensure the organisation is able to offer the best possible care for those who need it no matter what their age.
The Irwin Mitchell team was led by real estate partner Martyn Holland, supported by real estate solicitor Elizabeth Cook, with additional tax advice provided by Irwin Mitchell tax partner Sarah Cardew.
Martyn Holland Partner at Irwin Mitchell said, “We are delighted to be supporting Paces on its expansion, enabling the charity to help more individuals with the care that they need. Currently there is too little provision for adults with motor disorders and brain injuries across Yorkshire.”
Dr Spencer Pitfield, Chief Executive of Paces, said: “This is an exciting moment for Paces and a step forward for our vision of never having to turn people away from accessing the support we offer. Moving our adult services to a modern facility at Smithywood will allow us to help more individuals with the care we are renowned for, enabling them to be independent, build relationships and achieve their potential. We are extremely grateful to everyone at Irwin Mitchell for their continued support.”
