Oliver Studdert Is New Partner in London
National law firm Irwin Mitchell has appointed a new public law partner to help support the ongoing success of the firm’s acclaimed public law and human rights team.
Based in the London office, Oliver Studdert joined the public law and human rights national team on 21 April after ten years at Simpson Millar. With over 15 years’ experience working on a range of public law cases, Oliver joins Irwin Mitchell to help support the public law team in delivering the success that has seen them involved in some of the country’s most complex and high profile cases in recent years.
Oliver’s past work has focused on the law in respect of children’s rights and the human rights of vulnerable adults. He is a member of the Children’s Rights Alliance for England and a founding member of the Community Care Children and Young People Lawyers’ Group.
Oliver’s career has featured many influential cases, including the withdrawn government ‘myth-busting’ guide on child protection in 2019. He is highly regarded across legal directories and is ranked by Chambers and Partners UK 2019 in Public & Administrative Law; Civil Liberties and Court of Protection health and welfare.
Described as a “really outstanding” practitioner, Oliver is also someone who “goes the extra mile” and provides young people “with a route through the legal minefield”. The Legal 500 UK 2019 edition described him as “phenomenal” with a “great reputation.”
