Law Firm Named Among Top Organisations To Work For In The UK
National law firm Irwin Mitchell has been recognised as one of the best places to work in the UK by the Great Place to Work institute.
A consultancy specialising in workplace culture, Great Place to Work uses a confidential and anonymous survey to discover what employees really think about the places where they work.
Covering the work environment, reward, diversity and career development, an organisations ranking by employees represents two thirds of the final survey score. A business questionnaire evaluates the leadership, policies and culture of the organisation concerned for the final third.
The survey revealed that three quarters of colleagues at Irwin Mitchell said the firm was a great place to work, while a response rate of 84% makes the survey a fair reflection of the business.
Irwin Mitchell has consistently improved its performance in all survey categories over the last five years, with policies designed to empower colleagues to deliver extraordinary client experiences, while making the firm an attractive place to work in the legal industry.
The changes that have been made include closing what was already a small gender pay gap and introducing initiatives to improve the wellbeing and mental health of colleagues.
Policies to improve work life balance have proved popular and helped colleagues adjust to a situation in the UK where many are adjusting to the realities of home working. The result is a flexible, diverse workplace that the survey shows colleagues are happy to be a part of.
Expert Opinion
“Appearing on the Great Place to Work Survey is an important achievement for the whole firm. Our colleagues want to know we will do as we say, and that we will listen and take action on their feedback. The survey shows we have listened and have taken clear action to address their concerns directly.
The survey offers us a greater understanding of what colleagues think about working at Irwin Mitchell, what they are proud of and crucially, what things we can improve on when deciding future policy.
We understand that you can’t fix everything at once. A great culture can take years to build but we are very clear about what it means to work at Irwin Mitchell and how we can embed this vision further across the business.” Andrew Tucker - CEO
