Ania Bean Shortlisted for 2019 PIC Clinical Negligence Award
Irwin Mitchell’s Ania Bean, a specialist medical negligence associate solicitor in the London office, has been one of the 3 finalists shortlisted for the 2019 PIC (Partners in Costs) Clinical Negligence Rising Star Award, an award which is aimed at junior practitioners up to 5 years of post-qualification experience.
The winner will be announced at the Mid-Conference Dinner, at the Action Against Medical Accident's (AvMa) 31st Annual Clinical Negligence Conference, on Friday 28 June. To reach the shortlist, Ania had to demonstrate the impact she has made on her area of law, together with evidence of her achievements and any charitable work undertaken.
Ania specialises in representing individuals injured as a result of medical negligence. Her varied case load includes, amongst others, complex birth injury, meningitis and spinal injury cases. She has experience of all aspects of litigation, including trial. She places strong emphasis on rehabilitation, through which she feels that she is able to have a real impact within her area of law by improving the quality of her clients’ lives.
Ania holds Senior Litigator status with the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) and is also an accredited clinical negligence specialist.
Her work is recognised externally by peers, Counsel, experts and clients. Clients comment on her “skill and humanity”, “professionalism, reliability and empathy” and “dedication to providing a first class service”. Experts praise her for her “unflustered approach”, “immense efficiency when under so many pressures” and “professionalism combined with the most engaging personality”. Counsel commend her “high degree of focus”, “ability to identify the most important points in a case”, “unrelenting attention to detail, diligence and hard work”.
As a member of the office charity committee, Ania regularly organises events raising money for the office’s Charities of the Year. In 2018, this included £39,090 being raised for Digswell Place Group Riding for Disabled (RDA) as part of the law firm’s Charity of the Year initiative. She is also actively involved in other internal groups, including a group promoting diversity within the firm and an office choir.
