Law Firm Joins Charity In Supporting Campaign
Specialist lawyers at legal firm Irwin Mitchell are marking World Meningitis Day by joining a leading charity in raising awareness of the importance of recognising the symptoms of the infection.
World Meningitis Day takes place today, 24 April, with this year’s campaign focusing on the after effects of meningitis.
As part of the day Irwin Mitchell and charity Meningitis Now are raising awareness of the signs and symptoms while supporting those affected.
Expert Opinion
“Sadly, we often see first-hand just how devastating meningitis can be, not only for people diagnosed with the infection but also their families.
Early detection is vital to beating it. Therefore we urge people to be aware of the signs of symptoms of meningitis and if needed seek medical advice at the earliest opportunity.
It is also important that people affected by meningitis do not feel they are alone as there is help and support available. We will continue to support Meningitis Now in helping to save lives.”

Meningitis is the inflammation of the membranes that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. The two main causes of the infection are viruses and bacteria.
Symptoms include fever with cold hands and feet, headache, vomiting, and stomach cramps.
After effects can be life-changing and can include brain damage, epilepsy, loss of limbs and deafness.
As part of the day Meningitis Now is encouraging people to dress in orange, the charity’s colour and take part in fundraising events.
Staff at Irwin Mitchell offices are due to take part in fundraising activities on the day.
