Irwin Mitchell Runs Another Pro Bono Clinic As Part Of National Pro Bono Week And Justice Week
Sheffield law firm Irwin Mitchell will be holding its third multi-service pro bono clinic in the space of 12 months to help those who can’t afford or access legal advice.
The clinic will take place on 1 November at the law firm’s offices at Millsands as part of Justice Week (29 October – 2 November), a new initiative set up by legal professional bodies the Law Society, the Bar Council and the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx).
The purpose of the week is to raise awareness of justice and the rule of law whilst further celebrating National Pro Bono Week, which takes place the week before (22 – 26 October) to mark the free legal advice that law firms provide people and organisations with.
Irwin Mitchell’s pro bono clinic will offer free 30 minute appointments with one of the team of specialist solicitors in a number of areas including medical negligence, commercial real estate, product liability and commercial litigation.
Providing pro bono support to businesses, charities and individuals is a crucial element of Irwin Mitchell’s social responsibility work. Every year, colleagues from the law firm donate hundreds of hours of their own time to support local community and national pro bono initiatives.
In Sheffield alone, the law firm runs two monthly free legal advice clinics, one at the Israac Somali Community Association on Cemetery Road and the other at the Sheffield and District African Caribbean Community Association (SADACCA) community centre in the Wicker.
Expert Opinion
We’re really pleased to be holding our third annual pro clinic in a row at our Sheffield office as part of National Pro Bono Week and the new awareness campaign, Justice Week. Being able to offer this service to people and organisations who need it really is what both weeks are about. The clinics we’ve held in the past, and the ones we currently run on a monthly basis across the city have always received extremely encouraging and positive feedback from the people who have attended. It’s really important to us that we continue to provide people with access to free legal advice they so desperately need. I am proud to be a part of such a dedicated and passionate firm, where everyone on the Pro Bono Committee actively looks for ways to support those who need pro bono services.
