Appointment Sees Solicitor Libby Hanson Join The Firm
Irwin Mitchell has announced the appointment of Libby Hanson as a solicitor at the national law firm’s Leeds office. Libby will sit in the team’s impressive Court of Protection team.
Having graduated in 2013 from BPP University Law School, Libby joined Gordons LLP in Leeds in 2013 as a Private Client paralegal before qualifying as a solicitor in 2016.
Prior to joining Irwin Mitchell at the beginning of 2018, Libby spent a year focusing on volunteer work, becoming appointed the Patient and Public Voice Representative for the Hand Transplant Team at Leeds Teaching Hospitals. Currently, this is the only NHS Trust that conducts pioneering hand transplants. Libby has also worked with InterLaw Diversity Forum to promote diversity in the city and the workplace in general.
Last year’s independent Legal 500 UK Guide and Chambers UK Guides to the best lawyers in the country ranked Irwin Mitchell’s Court of Protection team as number one.
Speaking about her appointment, Libby said: “I'm excited to join such a dynamic and leading law firm which puts the care of its clients first. Irwin Mitchell's focus on delivering the highest standard of client care and unparalleled service is what attracted me to the firm.
“Court of Protection work is very specialist and requires a sensitive touch as you are assisting vulnerable people day in day out, and I am delighted to be a part of a team that is highly respected in this field.
“I look forward to providing our clients with that support and working tirelessly to deliver for them.”
Libby’s appointment is the fourth in a short spell that Irwin Mitchell has made to its Court of Protection team in the North.
In November, Lucy Nicol, an expert in court of protection and mental capacity law, joined Irwin Mitchell’s Manchester office. She was joined earlier this month by Damian Hodkinson and Gillian Hitchen.
Elizabeth Perry, a Partner and Head of Irwin Mitchell’s Court of Protection team in Leeds, said: “We are delighted to welcome Libby to Irwin Mitchell. We are always striving to add significantly to the breadth and depth of our team in Leeds, and we believe we have successfully done this with the appointment of Libby.”
