Irwin Mitchell Spreads Festive Cheer With Walking Home For Christmas Challenge
A group of Cambridge-based lawyers swapped the warmth of their office for walking boots earlier this month as they undertook a charity challenge to raise vital funds for Walking With the Wounded and Help for Heroes.
Legal experts from the Cambridge office of national law firm Irwin Mitchell took part in the Walk Home for Christmas Challenge on December 10th, with the fundraising initiative calling on participants to arrange a sponsored walk to their home or another chosen location.
All money raised from the campaign is set to be shared equally between Walking With the Wounded and Help for Heroes this year, with both charities working to support at-risk veterans struggling with issues including unemployment and mental health problems.
Irwin Mitchell’s lawyers undertook a 7km route as part of the challenge, with their journey taking them around the city centre and its colleges. The Cambridge office raised a total of £535.86 through the initiative, with the Irwin Mitchell Charities Foundation also pledging to increase the funds further.
Simon Harrington, a Partner and military expert based at Irwin Mitchell’s Cambridge office, said:

“Through our work we have seen the terrible difficulties that former armed forces personnel can face, with some facing many challenges as a result of physical and psychological injuries.
