Law Firm Holds Equali-tea Events To Show Support For LGBT+ Community
National law firm Irwin Mitchell is showing its support for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT+) colleagues this Stonewall Season by holding four Equali-tea events in its offices across the country.
Each year Stonewall, a charity which offers support to LGBT+ groups and individuals, celebrate the progress they have made by holding Stonewall Season; a week of events across Britain, run by people and organisations who want to make a stand for equality. This year’s season runs from 2 – 8 October.
As long-time supporters of Stonewall, Irwin Mitchell’s diversity networking and support group for LGBT+ colleagues and straight allies, IM Equal, will host the Equali-tea events that are open for all Irwin Mitchell colleagues to attend.
Taking place at Irwin Mitchell’s offices in Gatwick, Birmingham, Bristol and Sheffield this week, the events are a great chance for colleagues to help IM Equal reach an even wider audience within the firm with their message of inclusion. There will also be an event in Manchester the following week on Friday 13 October.
By attending the events colleagues will also be able to show their support for IM Equal and find out more about the work the support group do.
Irwin Mitchell is a firm believer in celebrating diversity and promoting a culture of inclusivity to help create a working environment that both colleagues and clients can thrive in.
The firm is currently ranked 14th in the Stonewall Legal Top 20 2016, and each year employees across the country represent Irwin Mitchell at Pride events.
Irwin Mitchell is also proud to offer support to clients on LGBT+ issues such as employment and family law.
Expert Opinion
“We’re really pleased to once again be part of Stonewall Season and looking forward to our Equali-tea events. It doesn’t matter if colleagues attending are gay, straight, bi or trans or if they’ve never had anything to do with IM Equal before. Just by attending they will be sending a powerful message of inclusivity and making a stand for equal rights.
“Events like Stonewall Season are important as they ensure that LGBT+ issues remain in the public conscious. We all have to remember that many people have worked tirelessly for so long to ensure that LGBT+ people have rights, and the voice of the community is heard. With so much change happening in the UK, it’s imperative now, more than ever, that LGBT+ equality stays high on the agenda.” Luke Daniels - Partner
