Amanda Marsh Recognised For Work
Irwin Mitchell, through the work of its military team based at the firm’s Manchester office, were named winners of the Families, Veterans & Wounded, Injured and Sick Award at the North West Armed Forces Awards on 23 November, with military lawyer Amanda Marsh being singled out for praise.
Amanda, who is based at Irwin Mitchell’s Manchester office and has over 20 years’ experience supporting those within the armed forces, was received the award on behalf of the team. Col Philip Harrison Commander HQ North West presented Amanda with the award.
The awards, in their fourth year, were held at British Muslim Heritage Centre, Manchester, with numerous important local figures in attendance, including Mayor Andy Burnham. The awards are a means of recognising those who have supported the armed forces, including individuals and groups both across the country and locally to Manchester.
When presenting the award Col Philip Harrison referred to the high risk military environment and noted the public’s respect of the sacrifice servicemen and servicewomen make for the public.
Regards the winners of the award, Col Philip Harrison praised the enthusiasm of Irwin Mitchell’s military team. He also said the firm acts with integrity and rigour on the part of Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen at their greatest time of need.
Amanda was joined at the awards by the head of Irwin Mitchell’s military injury team, Geraldine McCool, serious injury partner Jonathan Betts, and Christopher Perrin, a real estate partner at the firm’s Manchester office.

Also at the awards, 12 businesses from across the North West received Silver Awards under the Ministry of Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) for their support to the Armed Forces community.
The ERS Silver Awards recognise organisations who demonstrate support for Service personnel, including employing members of the Armed Forces community, and show flexibility towards training and mobilisation commitments for Reservists.
This year, Bolton Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Brunswick Youth and Community Centre, East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust, Edgar Brothers, Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service, Oldham Council, Protective Security, The Riverside Group, Tom Harrison House, The University of Bolton, Veterans HQ, and the Veterans in Sefton were awarded Silver.
