Lawyers From Irwin Mitchell Handed Out Presents At Wilson Stuart School

Lawyers from Irwin Mitchell’s Birmingham office have helped spread Christmas joy by joining Santa on a visit to a local school which specialises in special educational needs.

Legal specialists from the personal injury team Shannon Breeze and Laura Ellacott recently accompanied Santa on his visit to Wilson Stuart School in Perry Common, Erdington.

On the festive visit, Shannon and Laura helped Santa hand out gifts to over 100 nursery and school children.

The school, which caters for 173 pupils aged 2-25, enjoys good links with the law firm through the school’s Boccia club – a sport designed for people with disabilities. Volunteers from Irwin Mitchell attend the school weekly to officiate Boccia games and coach players. The law firm also runs the Don’t Quit, Do It campaign to encourage more involvement in disability sports.

The school is a Special Academy with outstanding purpose built facilities and highly trained staff who help educate pupils who may have additional difficulties including sensory impairment, learning difficulties, communication difficulties or complex medical conditions.

Receiving an ‘Outstanding’ OFSTED report in its last five inspections, the school strives to provide a ground breaking learning environment with outstanding teaching, support and pastoral care. This is all with the aim of empowering students to have as much independence as possible.
