Demand For Answers Regarding Problems Linked To LTI Louis Grand Hotel
A man who needed hospital treatment and is continuing to suffer as a result of the gastroenteritis he developed during an all inclusive stay at a Greek holiday resort in September this year has called on legal experts to help him gain answers regarding his ordeal.
Philip O’Connor, 30, from Liverpool fell ill with severe, diarrhoea, vomiting and back and kidney pain halfway through his week-long holiday at the LTI Louis Grand on Corfu, with his symptoms proving so severe that he was given a painkilling injection and put on a drip at a hospital on the island.
Now back in the UK, Philip, has instructed specialist illness lawyers in Irwin Mitchell’s International Personal Injury team to help him gain answers regarding what he has been through.
The legal experts have vast experience helping thousands of holidaymakers gain justice in relation to illness problems on cruise ships and at holiday resorts across the world.
Clare Pearson, the legal expert at Irwin Mitchell who is representing Philip, said:
Expert Opinion
“This is an extremely worrying case in which our client has not only seen his holiday ruined by illness, but also required hospital treatment abroad.
“A case of this nature shows that the seriousness of gastric illness should never be downplayed and we have seen numerous cases in which people have needed time off work and struggled with long-term health problems as a result of such holiday illnesses.
“With this in mind, we are determined to discover how these issues emerged and what can be done to ensure no one else suffers in a similar manner in the future.” Clare Pearson - Legal Executive & Associate
Philip’s stay at the LTI Louis Grand resort with his girlfriend Christelle Yembe,23, started on September 21st and was booked through TUI UK Ltd Trading as Thomson. Around five days into the holiday he started to suffer with symptoms.
He has told his legal team of a number of concerns he and Christelle had occasionally observed while on holiday, such as wasps around some of the food, some of the food being left uncovered and served lukewarm and ‘new’ food being added to ‘existing’ food in serving trays, rather than replacing it.
He recalled: “Christelle and I had been out for dinner and I started to feel really unwell, so headed back to my room. I was sick on and off through the night, had diarrhoea and was in agony from pains in my lower back and kidney. It was absolutely awful.
“Christelle told staff at the hotel about my illness and a doctor was called who advised that I should go to hospital. Once there I was given a painkilling injection in my back and I was also given fluids through an IV drip. I was just in disbelief that this was happening on a holiday which was meant to be a relaxing break.”
Following his return to the UK, Philip was seen by a doctor and was advised he would need to wait for the illness to leave his body. Fortunately he has been able to return to work in his role as a painter and decorator.
He added: “Whenever you go on holiday you simply never expect to suffer issues like this and you certainly do not think it is going to affect you even after you have returned home.
“It was a horrible experience, I just think I deserve some explanation as to what happened. The last few days of our holiday was spoilt and steps have to be taken to provide the answers we are seeking.”
