Expert Lawyers Investigating Asbestos Exposure That Led To Mesothelioma Decades Later
The daughter of a Leeds man who spent much of his working life as an engineer is searching for information from her late father’s former colleagues who may be able to assist the investigation into how her father was exposed to asbestos at work.
Denis Hampshire, from Cookridge, Leeds, died at the age of 88 in February 2015, just a matter of months after he was diagnosed with mesothelioma, an aggressive asbestos-related cancer affecting the lining of the lungs.
His daughter, Alison Hampshire, is continuing to fight for justice in his name and has instructed expert asbestos-related disease lawyers at Irwin Mitchell to investigate how and where he father was exposed to the deadly material and if more could, and should, have been done to protect him from the risks it posed to his health.
In a bid to get answers Alison is searching for her father’s former colleagues who may have the information she needs to get justice in her dad’s name.
She and her legal team at Irwin Mitchell are keen to hear from anyone who worked alongside Denis at engineering companies Oxley Dempster Ltd and Layton Son & Co during the 1960s and 70s or Charles Roberts & Co. Ltd. and Senior Green Ltd, where he worked in the 1980s and early 90s.
Fay Marshall, an expert industrial disease lawyer at Irwin Mitchell, representing his family, said:
Denis’ daughter, Alison, said: “It was a shock when Dad received his diagnosis and he deteriorated rapidly. Dad was always active and a keen sportsman. He was involved in football and cricket in his youth and then golf and snooker until his illness prevented him from taking part in the activities he enjoyed.
“I can only hope some of his old work mates will see this appeal and will come forward to help the legal team at Irwin Mitchell to piece together the full picture of his exposure.”
Anyone with information on the working conditions at Oxley Dempster Ltd, Layton Son & Co, Charles Roberts & Co. Ltd. and Senior Green Ltd, should contact Fay Marshall on 0113 394 6826 or email fay.marshall@irwinmitchell.com.
