Family Law Specialist Ros Bever Recognised After Supreme Court Success

A Manchester based divorce lawyer is the only expert in her field outside of London to land a coveted spot on The Lawyer’s ‘Hot 100’ list of 2016.

Ros Bever, a Partner at law firm Irwin Mitchell, has been recognised as one of the best lawyers in the country and one of only three family law experts nationwide to be named on the prestigious list which celebrates the top 100 solicitors, barristers, and general counsel for inspirational, ground-breaking and innovative legal work.

The exciting news was announced today (Monday) and there will be a launch party to celebrate on Thursday 28th January, at The Royal Exchange, London, which Ros is attending.

The recognition follows Ros’ success at the Supreme Court in 2015 when she secured a dual victory for two ex-wives in a landmark case which saw a unanimous ruling to set aside original financial settlements because both husbands had been dishonest about their assets in their divorce proceedings.

After securing a successful judgment on behalf of Alison Sharland and Varsha Gohil, Ros said that the case showed that ‘dishonesty will not be tolerated by the courts’.

It is the first time in a generation that the highest court in the land had heard cases on the issue of non-disclosure in divorce proceedings. 

As a result the trained collaborative lawyer, who is known for her sensitivity, empathy and commitment to her clients, was also featured as ‘Lawyer of The Week’ in The Times and listed in the prestigious Spears 500 guide for her work with high net worth individuals.

Married Ros, who credits her family for their support, claims 2015’s Supreme Court hearing was one of the most “amazing and unforgettable” moments of her career to date.

Another major highlight of 2015 for ‘softly-spoken and approachable’ Ros included a High Court case where assets exceeded £60 million.

Most of Ros’ clients come through recommendations and she has experience in handling separation, international corporate structures, high value trust instruments, dissolution of civil partnerships, children cases along with pre-nups and pre-cohabitation agreements.
