Southampton Event Focuses On Neural Plasticity
Serious injury lawyers from Irwin Mitchell in partnership with Hobbs Rehabilitation are hosting a conference in Southampton to highlight the clinical relevance of neural plasticity when treating spinal cord injuries.
A few places remain for the event which takes place on Thursday 25 February. All attendees will be helping to raise money for the Southern Spinal Injuries Trust.
The day with be chaired by Dr Geoffrey Guy who will introduce the expert speakers who will talk throughout the day. This begins with an overview of spinal cord plasticity from Dr John Riddell, a Senior Lecturer from the Centre for Neuroscience at Glasgow University.
The focus of the conference is to promote discussion about the role of neural plasticity in spinal cord rehabilitation and the brain and spinal cord’s ability to reorganise itself by forming new neural connections throughout life.
Neural plasticity allows the nerve cells in the brain to compensate for injury and disease and to adjust their activities in response to new situations or to changes in their environment.
Hobbs Rehabilitation provides specialist inpatient and outpatient neurological rehabilitation, for adults and children, across the South of England. They have a team of specialist therapists and the latest neuro technology to ensure that every affected individual can go on to reach their full potential.
Irwin Mitchell regularly work with clients who have suffered spinal cord injuries as a result of a serious injury and provide the support needed to deal with what often becomes a life-changing experience.
