Medical Negligence Lawyers At Irwin Mitchell Secured Settlement
A care and rehabilitation package has been agreed for an eight-year-old girl who suffered a brain injury following complications during her birth after specialist medical negligence lawyers at Irwin Mitchell secured an admission from the NHS Trust responsible for her care.
The young girl was starved of oxygen during her birth at the Lister Hospital in November 2007 and developed a brain injury as a result, which has left her visually impaired and with learning difficulties.
Her parents instructed specialist medical lawyers at Irwin Mitchell to help them obtain answers as to what happened and to secure funds for the lifetime care, support and rehabilitation she will need.
Four years ago expert medical negligence lawyers representing her family secured an admission of liability from the East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust, which operates the hospital. Interim settlement payments allowed the family to access specialist rehabilitation while quantum investigations commenced.
Just weeks before a quantum trial was due to take place the case settled for a capitalised figure of £7.5 million. The award will allow the Claimant to access the specialist treatment and care she will need for the rest of her life.
Kate Major, a specialist medical negligence lawyer at Irwin Mitchell, representing his family, said:
