Seven People Affected By Illness After Eating At Cardiff Restaurant

Public Health Wales has launched an investigation into a Cardiff restaurant after seven people were confirmed to be suffering with food poisoning caused by the Campylobacter bacterium.

Those affected ate at the restaurant, which is currently closed, during the weekend of May 16th.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA), the Regulatory Service for Cardiff, the Vale and Bridgend Councils, Cardiff and Vale University Health Board and Public Health Wales are investigating the cause of the outbreak.

Dr Gwen Lowe, Consultant in Communicable Disease Control for Public Health Wales, said: “We are investigating those people who were unwell after eating at the restaurant to try to establish the cause of the outbreak, but any ongoing public health risk from this outbreak is very unlikely with the actions already undertaken.”
