Serious Injury Lawyers Appealing For Witnesses
A 44-year-old man who suffered a traumatic head injury after he was knocked into a pillar by another man and thrown onto the pavement as he was leaving a bar in Cleethorpes has instructed specialist lawyers at Irwin Mitchell to appeal for witnesses to his accident.
Tim Clayton, from Retford, in Nottinghamshire was leaving the Waves Bar on 6th July 2014 around midnight with his wife to catch a bus back to the campsite they were staying at; when they walked past the door, the doorman forcibly threw another customer out of the bar and into Tim. Tim was knocked back and he hit his head onto a concrete pillar, and then hit his head on the pavement as he fell and fell unconscious.
Tim was taken to Grimsby Hospital by paramedics and later taken to Bassetlaw Hospital where he was diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury, fractured skull and bleeding on the brain.
Since being discharged from hospital on 15th July 2014, the food service engineer has not been able to return to work due to the extent of his injuries. He has lost his sense of smell and taste; he struggles to communicate properly as his language skills have been affected, he has also experienced significant changes to his personality becoming more short-tempered and suffering with depression.
His wife Melody instructed specialist serious injury lawyers at Irwin Mitchell to investigate the accident and now Tim’s legal team is appealing to anybody who witnessed the incident at Waves Bar, Sea Road in Cleethorpes to come forward as their evidence may prove vital in securing Timothy access to the specialist rehabilitation he now needs to help with his brain injuries and recovery.
Expert Opinion
“Tim suffered a severe head injury which has had a significant impact on both him and his family. He has not been able to return to work and is still receiving treatment to help with his recovery.
“Brain injuries can have such a devastating effect on both individuals and their families. The most serious injuries can cause long term disability leaving those injured needing 24 hour care and rehabilitation for life.
“Witnesses to the incident could help us secure a settlement for Tim to access rehabilitation services which would make a huge difference. We urge anyone who thinks they have information to get in touch so we can look to secure justice that will help him begin rebuilding his life.”

Melody said: “As a family it has been incredibly difficult to come to terms with Tim’s accident and the impact his injuries has had on his and our lives. With access to rehabilitation services I hope that he will be able to start on the long road to recovery.
“Due to his injuries Tim struggles to understand information now when it is given to him and can get easily confused and frustrated. His memory is also now quite poor – he’s very forgetful and finds it very difficult to remember anything you tell him. He relied on me and the family a lot now to help him through the day, from simple things like remembering to take his medication to doing any tasks around the house as he just can’t remember what he was meant to be doing.
“I hope that anyone who saw what happened to him will come forward as any information could prove to be vital in helping our battle for justice.”
