Third New Partner Announced By IM’s Business Division In 2015
Leading national law firm Irwin Mitchell is continuing to invest in strengthening its Corporate team with the announcement that it has appointed Simon Griffiths as Partner to its fast-growing London office.
Simon, who specialises in equity capital markets, public company takeovers and private M&A, has extensive experience in advising quoted companies, investment banks and fund managers on financial services law and regulation.
He was Head of the Equity Capital Markets at Addleshaw Goddard from 2000 until 2013 and is the third Partner to be announced by Irwin Mitchell’s Business Legal Services (BLS) team already this year.
Commenting on the appointment, Chris Rawstron, National Head of Corporate & Commercial at Irwin Mitchell, said:
Expert Opinion
Simon is a superb addition to our Corporate & Commercial team. He has vast experience working across equity capital markets as well as advising on both large public and private M&A, and represents a significant boost to our corporate finance capability.
“We are expecting a significant amount of IPO activity in 2015, particularly in the run up to the General Election in May, and we are confident that with Simon on board we can capitalise on the opportunities that exist in the short and longer term.”

Simon’s appointment is the latest addition to the BLS team and follows the arrival in December 2014 of DWF Partner and National Head of Pensions, Martin Jenkins.
Other lateral Partner hires into the London office during the last 12 months include Ayesha Hasan (Real Estate), Edward Judge (Insolvency) and Jonathan Sachs (Professional Negligence).
Niall Baker, Chief Executive of Irwin Mitchell’s Business Legal Services team, said:
Expert Opinion
Simon Griffiths is exactly the kind of lawyer that we are looking to attract to Irwin Mitchell. He is a leader in his field and someone who has a clear understanding about what clients require from a modern law firm in what is a rapidly changing legal market.
“His appointment is another clear signal of our intention to invest and keep building a first class business division. Last year we saw double-digit growth within the department and invested heavily in our team, including the appointment of nine new Partners. I’m delighted to say that we have hit the ground running in 2015 with a number of senior lateral hires and look forward to making further announcements in the near future.”

So far this year, Irwin Mitchell has already announced the recruitment of Insolvency & Restructuring Partner, Stephen George and Commercial Litigation Partner, Simon Ellis.
