Lateral Hire Marks The Start Of Firm’s 2015 Recruitment Drive
The Birmingham office of law firm Irwin Mitchell has announced the appointment of Restructuring and Insolvency Partner, Stephen George, as part of its ongoing strategic drive to build a first-class business advisory team across the city.
Stephen will join from Squire Patton Boggs in Birmingham and is experienced in all aspects of insolvency, corporate recovery and turnaround work. He is due to start his new role in February 2015.
Listed as a ‘Leading Individual’ by Chambers and described as ‘tenacious’ with ‘a real willingness to take responsibility in resolving complex cases’, Stephen is a respected expert on pension deficit issues and his clients include insolvency practitioners, banks, corporates and asset based lenders.
The move will see him reunited with former Squire Sanders’ Partners, Andrew Watson and Jon Bew. Jon joined Irwin Mitchell in 2013 and heads up Irwin Mitchell’s Banking & Finance team in Birmingham. In addition to boosting Irwin Mitchell’s insolvency and restructuring expertise, Stephen will work alongside Jon to offer a complete asset based lending solution for clients.
Chris Rawstron, Partner and Head of BLS at Irwin Mitchell in Birmingham, said:

Stephen is the latest senior lateral hire announcement within Irwin Mitchell’s Business Legal Services team in Birmingham. Last year it appointed Corporate & Commercial Partners, Nick Dawson and Sarah Riding, as well as senior Corporate Associate, Rob Laugharne. It also recruited education employment law specialist, Surinder Dhillon, from Birmingham City Council.
As part of Irwin Mitchell’s strategic push to develop a first-class business legal services team, Irwin Mitchell appointed nine Partners in 2014, including National Head of Pensions Martin Jenkins.
