The family of a man who sustained a severe brain injury when he was hit by a car following a work Christmas party has called for greater awareness amongst drivers of pedestrians in the road. 

Will Taylor, 22, from Appley Bridge, was walking a female friend home after their belated work Christmas party at the Wayfarer pub in Parbold in January 2014, when he was hit by a car driven by someone who had picked up friends attending the same party.  Will was catapulted into the air and landed on the road, sustaining serious injuries including a brain injury. 

At a Trial at Ormskirk Magistrates Court on 5 September 2014, the driver pleaded guilty to the charge of Driving Without Due Care and Attention was fined £360 and received 5 penalty points against his licence. He was also ordered to pay costs and a victim surcharge.

Together with the law firm, the family are now calling for drivers to take greater care in watching out for pedestrians in the road.
