Concerns Raised Regarding Presence Of Material In Halls Of Residence

Halls of residence on the site of Warwick University have been evacuated following concerns regarding the presence of asbestos in the building, according to reports.

The Coventry Telegraph reports that the site operated by Deeley Construction was closed and the Health and Safety Executive had been informed after fibres of the deadly material were released into the air during work.

A spokesman for Deeley Construction told the newspaper that testing was now being carried out at the site and outlined that a removal firm had been hired to move furniture which was subsequently found to be fixed to walls containing asbestos.

He added that the firm was working with the university to “remedy the situation”.
