Lawyers Say The Move Represents Next Step In Victims Recovery And Battle For Justice

Specialist abuse lawyers representing the victims of a doctor, who was jailed for filming himself sexually abusing female patients, say the decision today to have him struck off the register is the next step in their battle for justice.

Davinder Bains, 45, of Nythe, was given a 12 year jail sentence for filming sexual assaults and patients getting undressed at his GP practice at Tinkers Lane in Royal Wootton Bassett.

At a two-day hearing by the Medical Practitioners’ Tribunal Service, in Manchester, a panel struck him off the medical register and ordered an immediate suspension of his licence to cover a 28 day appeal period.

The panel said: "Given the seriousness of the case and the sanction that the Panel has imposed, the Panel considers that it is otherwise in the public interest to make an immediate order for suspension, in order to maintain confidence in the profession and the regulatory process."

"This man massively abused the position of trust in which he was placed and carried out the most horrendous crimes that continue to have a devastating effect on dozens of women.

"Many of his victims continue to suffer psychologically as a result of the horrific abuse he carried out and need specialist treatment to help them come to terms with what happened. We are now working with them to get the specialist help and support they need.”
