Car Crash on M62

The family of woman and a teenager who died in a car crash on the M62 last month have enlisted the help of the media to thank the unidentified off duty paramedic who attempted to save their lives.

The driver of the car, Jayne Shaw who was 36 at the time of the accident and her nephew, Stephen Parkhouse (17) who had just started his second year of a four year joinery course at college, died after a lorry ran into the back of them on October 19, 2007.

Jayne’s son, Jamie Parkhouse (15) who now suffers from major physiological injuries, survived the ordeal when a heroic stranger pulled him from the car which had left the carriageway and slipped down an embankment.

David Urpeth, a Partner at law firm Irwin Mitchell, is representing the family. He said: "The tragic circumstances under which the deaths of Jayne and Stephen occurred are still under police investigation but the families are extremely grateful to the person who pulled Jamie from the car.

"Jamie, having lost his mother and cousin is now being cared for by his aunt, Julie Parkhouse who has lost her sister and son. There were at least six cars involved and somebody must have seen something.

"The family has experienced huge loss following the incident that involved several vehicles and which led to a number of fatalities and injuries and are hoping for a swift investigation."
