Pegasus Hotel, Sarigerme
Over 40 guests have fallen ill after an outbreak of Salmonella at the All Inclusive Pegasus Tropical Hotel complex in Sarigerme, Turkey between May and August this year. Specialist travel law firm Irwin Mitchell, who have been instructed to act for a number of guests who have recently returned from the hotel, said that holidaymakers have reported suffering from a range of severe gastric symptoms as a result of their stay at the hotel complex.
Suki Chhokar, Travel litigation lawyer at Irwin Mitchell Solicitors said "We urge people to come forward if they have been affected by illness at either the Pegasus Palace Hotel or the Pegasus Tropical Hotel complex in Sarigerme. This is the second year running that a number of guests have fallen ill with severe gastric symptoms."
Mrs Lyndsey Russell, 28 from Runcorn in Cheshire who travelled with her husband Daniel (38) and son Louis (11) in August of this year and suffered severe gastric illness said "It was very distressing for all of us as we now are trying to forget a holiday to remember. This is a supposedly 4* hotel, I wouldn't have expected to be affected by an illness linked to poor hygiene at such a hotel."
She continued: "We saw undercooked food, dirty cutlery and crockery and insects on and around the food. We complained to both the hotel and our tour representative, but the level of service was appalling."

Another client of Irwin Mitchell, Anne-Marie Brolly (35) from Glasgow booked two weeks at the Pegasus Tropical Hotel complex last year. Ms Brolly experienced severe diarrhoea and her symptoms worsened on her return home. After visiting her GP she found that she was infected with Salmonella. As a result of her illness she spent ten weeks off work.
Ms Brolly said "I was appalled at the standard of food served at the Hotel. This was our first holiday abroad with our young son and it was completely ruined as a result of my illness and the conditions at the Hotel."
Ms Brolly is currently awaiting damages from First Choice holidays after they admitted liability in relation to the 2005 outbreak. Specialist travel lawyers at Irwin Mitchell are currently corresponding with First Choice Holidays in relation to the 2006 outbreak.
