The Women in Finance Charter is a pledge for gender balance across financial services from HM Treasury. It’s a commitment to work together, across our industry with signatory firms and with Government, to build a more balanced and fair financial services industry.
Our Commitment
We are committed to improving the gender balance within Asset Management and across our industry. IM Asset Management’s Chief Executive Officer, is responsible and accountable, as our senior executive lead, for gender diversity and inclusion in our financial services teams
Our Target and Actions
In May 2021, we committed to a target of having women in 30% of Asset Management roles at Associate and above by 1 May 2025. We’re going to review this target annually to make sure it’s ambitious enough and we’ll publish progress against this target annually.
To help us meet this target, we’ve delivered an action plan centred on the three key themes of recruitment, progression and retention. In 2021, our actions included:
- Recruitment: Improving our inclusive recruitment practices, with updated role profiles to reflect our flexible culture
- Progression: Equipping our line managers to nurture and retain female talent
- Retention: Establishing a “Colleague voice”, listening to our colleagues to drive behavioural change.
We believe in enabling everyone to thrive, in understanding, celebrating and valuing our differences, and in unlocking potential through a flexible, fair and unbiased approach. This enables us to make better decisions which benefit our clients

As part of our commitment to the Women in Finance Charter and to gender diversity within our industry, we’ve taken actions on recruitment, progression and retention this year. This is helping us strengthen our talent pipeline to senior management. This year, we will be reviewing our target and the actions needed to deliver on this, as we continue to develop an inclusive culture that enables everyone to thrive.>
