Biography
I am an occupational disease solicitor based in the South of England. I cover a wide geographical area ranging from Wales, to Bristol, to Southampton, to Cambridge. I am actively involved in support groups which help those suffering from asbestos related diseases.
What do you like about working at Irwin Mitchell?
I work with colleagues who are passionate about helping our clients.
Working for a large law firm also allows me to obtain expert advice on area's that impact my clients, ranging from updating a will to financial planning.
I am a lead for the Southampton office's charity committee, where I have worked with some brilliant colleagues over the past three years to raise funds for some amazing causes.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?
Every client is different, and it's a privilege being able to get to know them and push their claim to help achieve justice. It means a lot to me that I can help secure someone's financial security for the future and allow them to focus on living their life again.
What inspired you to get into law?
I developed an interest in the law of negligence whilst studying law at university. Learning about the ways that people suffer the consequences of someone else's actions struck a chord with me and this set me on a path to occupational disease law, so that I can help them get justice. The hard work that employees put into their trade, should be matched with a serious consideration for their health.
What do you do away from the office?
I am a keen runner and enter races regularly. I also like to spend time at the gym followed by reading a book over a cup of coffee. My active lifestyle has allowed me to truly value, understand, and empathise, with the impact that occupational illness can have on a person.
