Biography
I am a Partner in our Court of Protection team in our London office, having been at the firm since 2008. I specialise in managing the property and financial affairs of those who are unable to do so because of a lack of capacity. This is usually by way of a Court of Protection Deputyship or Personal Injury Trust. The majority of my clients have received substantial compensation as a result of serious brain injuries sustained in road traffic accidents, clinical negligence, or as a result of a criminal injury and I regularly act as professional Deputy or Trustee for clients.
I regularly deal with and provide advice on various Court of Protection applications, including Gifts, Deputyships, and the preparation of Statutory Wills. I also act as a court expert witness for Court of Protection, Deputyship and Trust costs. I also advise on complex Personal Injury Trusts and specialist CICA Trusts for clients who have received compensation as a result of personal injury in order to protect current and future entitlement to means tested benefits.
What Inspired You To Get Into Law?
I have always wanted to be a solicitor as far back as I can remember and I am glad to have achieved my goal of being able to provide useful legal advice to clients in need.
What Is The Most Rewarding Aspect Of Your Role?
The most rewarding part of my job is receiving positive life updates and photos from clients, knowing that we have helped them along the way.
What Do You Like About Working For Irwin Mitchell?
The people. There are so many great people here, from lawyers to support staff, all doing their best to help clients. There is a reason I have been here so long.
What Do You Do Away From The Office?
I am a big football fan, and I still play weekly (although I often contemplate retirement). I love travelling and I enjoy going to the cinema. I am not very good (yet), but I enjoy trying to cook Italian food and you will often catch me trying to finely slice garlic cloves for a slow cooked sauce on a Sunday.
