Biography
I’m an Associate in our Public Law and Human Rights department, specialising in cases against central and local government on behalf of victims of trafficking, children in care, and those who are unlawfully detained. I regularly act for children and young people exploited by county lines gangs.
I have a specialist practice in judicial review challenges against decisions made by the Secretary of State for the Home Department, in particular decisions made in respect of victims of trafficking and modern slavery. I act on behalf of those seeking recognition and protection by the government as victims of modern slavery, as well as recognised victims who are receiving inadequate support or protection from the State.
I also regularly represent individuals claims who are unlawfully detained within immigration removal centres in public and private law claims against the Home Office. I have obtained release and damages for many such clients.
I also have significant experience in private law actions for damages against public bodies such as the police, local authorities and the Home Office for negligence, personal injury and breaches of the Human Rights Act. I regularly advise on potential claims against local authorities on behalf of children in care for breaches of their statutory duties under the Children Act 1989.
I have been ranked by Chambers & Partners as an Associate to Watch for the past two years.
