Biography
Richard is a specialist International Trade Consultant working with the UK Government’s Department for Business and Trade helping UK businesses to plan, research and sell successfully into key overseas markets, together with attracting increased Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) into the UK.
He has a strong background in Banking & Financial Services, having spent most of his career within HSBC Global Markets. Richard held senior roles at the Bank in the UK, USA and Channel Islands specialising in corporate foreign exchange, derivative sales and balance sheet management.
In his consultancy role at Irwin Mitchell, Richard assists both UK and overseas corporates/private individuals on the development of their international strategy, providing guidance on a range of key topics including; developing robust export strategies inc. key markets for growth, understanding and taking advantage of the UK’s Freeports & Investment Zones as well as the various Free Trade Agreements the UK is currently negotiating with overseas jurisdictions inc. the likes of the US, India, Israel, Singapore, CPTPP and others. Richard is also a key part of Irwin Mitchell’s FDI campaign and can provide assistance around grants, tax breaks and the general competitive advantage the UK holds when FDI is being considered by an overseas client.
