Biography
I’m an Associate Solicitor specialising in Medical Negligence claims, based in Leeds.
I joined Irwin Mitchell in 2014 as a Paralegal. In 2016, I started my training as a Trainee Solicitor, where I spent time working in different departments within the firm. In early 2018 I qualified as a Solicitor and I’ve worked exclusively in medical negligence since then. In 2022 I was promoted to an Associate Solicitor.
I work with patients and their families and I’m experienced in dealing with a wide variety of claims, including:
- Delays in diagnosis and treatment
- Substandard surgery
- Orthopaedic
- Stroke
- Assisting families who have lost loved ones as a result of medical negligence
What inspired you to get into law?
I chose a career in law because, from a young age, I have wanted to help people and make a real difference. I’ve always had an interest in medicine and I’m passionate about improving standards and patient safety and so, naturally, I was drawn to the field of medical negligence.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?
Working in medical negligence, often our clients instruct us under difficult circumstances having either themselves been injured as a result of negligent medical treatment, or having lost a loved one. Being able to support and guide those clients from the first meeting and through the litigation process to get the answers and explanations they seek is very rewarding.
For a lot of clients, getting compensation is not always the main goal in bringing a claim. Being able to get my client an award of damages and to support them in their rehabilitation journey is also something I find rewarding.
What do you like about working at Irwin Mitchell?
I like working at Irwin Mitchell because I’m part of a fantastic team of solicitors who are both experts in what they do and passionate about patient safety. Everybody works very hard to support their clients and colleagues, which makes Irwin Mitchell a great place to work.
What do you do away from the office?
Away from the office I enjoy going on long walks with my husband (and my miniature dachshund) in the countryside. I also enjoy gardening and spending time with friends.
