Biography
I'm a Solicitor within the Medical Negligence team at our Sheffield office. I'm the designated case handler on a number of cases and have experience in a variety of areas, including cases relating to general surgery, gynaecology, cancer claims and ophthalmic treatment.
What inspired you to get in to law?
I've been interested in law since I was in school and undertook a number of legal placements while I was studying for my A Levels, which cemented my desire to work in law. I studied for my Law degree at the University of Surrey, before undertaking my Legal Practice Course at the University of Sheffield. After graduating I began working at Irwin Mitchell as a Paralegal and I was fortunate enough to obtain a Training Contract, which allowed me to qualify as a solicitor.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?
We're contacted by our clients during what is often a very difficult time in their lives. It's important that we obtain compensation for our clients in recognition of their injuries and to try and remedy what's gone wrong, but it's also extremely rewarding when we can get answers and an apology for our clients to enable them to have some degree of closure.
What do you like about working at Irwin Mitchell?
I'm extremely lucky to work in a team with such a range of experience and knowledge within the area of medical negligence.
What do you do away from the office?
Outside of work I enjoy catching up with my friends and family, which often involves travelling to different parts of the UK for visits. I am an avid reader, and also spend a lot of my spare time with my partner’s dog Winnie, who is a very excitable Cocker Spaniel!
