Biography
I am a Solicitor and a Chartered Legal Executive specialising in Medical Negligence department in our London office. I qualified as a Chartered Legal Executive in 2019 and Solicitor in 2021.
I advise clients who have suffered a wide range of medical issues including:
-
Delay in diagnosis of cancer
- Psychiatric and mental health injuries
- Orthopaedic injuries
- Surgical negligence
- Ophthalmic injuries
- Misdiagnosis in A&E
- Injuries resulting in death
I manage my own caseload and support senior members of the team with claims involving complex injuries such as cerebral palsy and acquired brain injuries.
What do you like about working at Irwin Mitchell?
Everyone is very friendly and collaborative. I work as part of a team of highly skilled professionals who support each other and strive to achieve the best results for our clients. When a client needs help with something, as a full-service law firm, we can help. As a result, I get to refer and work with colleagues from other areas such as probate, welfare benefits, court of protection and asset management.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?
Getting answers for my clients to help them understand what happened. Through the work that I do, I am able to highlight failings in medical care and issues of patient safety so that lessons can be learnt. If we find out their condition has been caused by negligence, it’s rewarding to then be able to secure compensation for equipment, therapy and care and really make a difference to their lives.
What inspired you to get into law?
I wanted a career where I could make a real difference to people’s lives. I was torn between studying medicine and law. I wanted to do something that satisfied my desire to learn more about medicine as well as practising law, so medical negligence was the perfect choice.
What do you do away from the office?
Spending time with my family and friends. I also enjoy walking, theatre and travelling. I am also quite involved in my local church and enjoy working with young people.
